Between life and death there is a library, and its shelves go on forever. Every book gives Nora Seed a chance to try another version of her life — the one where she stayed, the one where she left, the one where she never gave up the swimming.

What the trade says

Editorial reviews

  • The Midnight Library holds its nerve long after most novels would have flinched.
    Brittle Paper

From the publisher

A novel about regret that somehow leaves you lighter than it found you. The most borrowed book in half the reading groups on this continent, and for good reason.

    Kinder than I expected

I braced for something bleak and it is not. A few of the lives are sketched thin, but the last thirty pages earn it.

    Good idea, tidy ending

The premise is excellent and the middle is genuinely moving. The resolution wraps up a little too neatly for me. Still recommend it.
